Asbestos and Hazardous Waste Removal - NSW Public Works

Site Name:

Wharf Hickson Rd Walsh Bay

Client:
NSW Public Works
Overview:
Removal of lead dust from the upper and lower levels of the Wharf Building
Summary:

Working from scissor lifts and scaffolds, RMA removed lead dust using HEPA filtered vacuums from the upper and lower levels of the wharf building. The ceiling space was also vacuumed by confined space trained workers. The working area was completely encapsulated and approved by an occupational hygienist before work commenced to ensure no possibility of contaminated dust escaping the building. RMA used control methods such as water spray to suppress dust, wet wiping – or detailing – of surfaces after vacuuming, and spraying a solution of PVA to seal any potential residue.

A negative air unit was also used to filter the air whilst the dust removal was in place and air monitoring was undertaken throughout the removal process.

RMA successfully completed the removal process and the contaminated building areas were cleared for public access.
